Wien | AUSGABE 18 | WINTER 2016
The second international Gaggenau-Sommelier-Awards took place in Vienna in 2016. Promising up-coming talents gave their best to become Gaggenau’s Sommelier of the Year and cultural ambassador of the brand.
To this end, Tansy Zhao (China), Marc Almert (Germany), Aristotelis Sklavenitis (Greece), Benjamin Robinson (Great Britain) and Norbert Dudzinski (Poland) had to convince an expert jury and international media representatives.
The Gaggenau-Sommelier-Award is the world’s first sommelier competition, which, in addition to assessing professional competence, also evaluates the candidate’s duties and responsibilities as a sommelier. The focus of this year’s two day competition in Vienna were questions on wine and coffee, a blind tasting and wine accompaniment to a five-course meal, selected individually by each sommelier.
The expert jury was put together for a second time by Annemarie Foidl, President of the Austrian Sommelier Association.
