The two brothers Dr. Ulf Laub and Dr. Jens Laub never veer from their path. Now in the 50th anniversary year of the Optima-Aegidius Group, the company established in 1968 which they inherited from their father Dr. Wolfgang Laub, they act ‘anti-cyclically’ – which means they are always a step ahead of the curve.
Apart from classic development of projects of over 1 bil. €, they also have in their portfolio projects of 100,000 m² and 500 apartments which reach a balance of 350 mil. €. Apart from the core markets of Berlin and Munich, they have also expanded ‘on the side’ to include locations in Toronto, Montreal, New York, Detroit, Cadiz and Kitzbühel. Currently they have approximately 150,000 m² of floor space in development; an additional 90,000 m² of floor space in planning. The project development volume of the group is just under 800 mil. €.
One contributing factor to this success is their collaboration with renowned architectural teams such as Steidle & Partner, Allmann, Sattler & Wappner, Nöfer Architects, Atelier Pott or oliv, all of whom are willing to take inspiration from ideas the brothers have absorbed in the course of their vast travels. The ‘factory / loft style’ projects they have implemented in Munich and Berlin were the focus of their adaptations from Brooklyn and Vancouver. The industrial office concepts seem to touch the spirt of the time so precisely that they are often completely leased even before construction has begun. The overall undertaking is anchored in solid foundations of their own capital in combination with the security provided by their already completed real estate projects, so that even in unsteady economical periods they can comfortably ‘sit out the storm.’
