Gmundner Keramik: these are unique pieces, hand-crafted in Salzkammergut, the Lake District of Austria, the fruit of more than 500 years of ceramic tradition. First documented in 1492, the nowadays largest ceramics manufacturer in Central Europe has developed into a veritable synonym for the very best of Austria’s dining culture.
The products of Gmundner Keramik are fashioned 100% at the manufacture of that name in Austria. The company employs 130 people,
of whom 40 are ceramic painters and designers, making sure that each and every piece is individual and vibrant with artistic life. The
unmistakeable designs dazzle one and all through their timeless elegance, robust colours atop radiant white, and soft, undulating ceramic shapes. Apart from many traditional, well known designs, Gmundner regularly produces innovative examples as well.
Manufacture and adventure alike: whoever wishes to cast a glance behind the scenes, to see and feel the pulsating heartbeat of ceramics, is invited to do so on a guided tour. Besides a short introductory film and a view of several notable exhibition pieces, visitors are also invited to touch and feel the items and photograph them in a specially arranged spot. Visitors receive deep insights into the process of how such unique pieces are born, extending all the way to watching them being painted. There is also a shop where such items can be purchased and taken home.
For all its design classics the manufacture offers the possibility to purchase them later on without any time limit set. Thus, place settings (coffee cup, saucer, dessert plate, soup bowl and dinner plates) can be added to at will…infinitely. All products of Gmundner Keramik are dishwasher safe and microwave-suited.
