Project Description

Kitzbühel | Issue 40 | Winter 2016

Bernd Gruber can look back on a long success story – one that began in his father’s carpentry workshop and has since expanded into an international enterprise.

After falling in love with the unique natural landscapes at the foot of the Kitzbühel Horn, a young family with four children hankered after the dream of a chalet in the Kitzbühel Alps. Bernd Gruber was duly commissioned with designing the exclusive interior of Chalet am Walserbachweg and has created a beautiful home, which can hardly be surpassed in terms of individuality and design standards.

“A conversion requires acceptance of the existing building, as well as the courage to make new beginnings. It is particularly important to consider large structural changes – having the trust of the client is a key factor in this regard“, says Bernd Gruber about Chalet am Walsenbachweg.

The previously unused basement has been transformed into an oasis of peace with guest room and spa. Traditional materials lend a cosy ambience – in keeping with the family’s personal taste. Grey, mature timber wall cladding, atmospheric lighting and perfectly coordinated furniture create a wonderful living area. Grey is the dominating colour, while hues of black and blue add a sophisticated touch. The ground and upper floor have a wholly new interior design.
