KITZBÜHEL | Issue 40 | WINTER 2016
Mandl & Bauer presented a patented three-sided, remote-controlled glass door innovation at the Viennese Furniture Trade Fair in 2008. The four-sided version, which facilitates all-round fire views, followed in 2011. The special aspect: no handles or frames interfere with the sight of the fire.
In high demand with architects
Mandl & Bauer work in conjunction with architects on most customer orders.
Top standards in terms of quality, aesthetics and design have long since projected Mandl & Bauer to the pinnacle of the exclusive fireplace-building world. Today, an 18-strong team produces ca. 250 fireplaces that are installed not only all over Aus-tria, but in other international cities such as Zurich, Moscow and Munich. High-profile customers are just as much part of the clientele as young enthusiasts of modern architecture.
Fascinated by the possibility to reduce forms to the essentials, Mandl & Bauer developed a passion for working with concrete. Thanks to its heat resistance of up to 1,200°C, concrete can be used throughout the entire fire chamber. ”Customers are often surprised at how pleasant concrete actually feels“, says Josef Mandl.
Playing with Fire
It is not always necessary to burn wood to create a pleasant fire. Gas flames flickering over a gravel bed create a particularly attractive aesthetic image. These “Dancing Flames“ are available in various formats.
