Lars Beusker, Look Into My Eyes, 146 x 126 cm
BEST OF | Issue 2 | Winter 2024
The photographs which Axel Grellhorst has in his programme are often sold-out worldwide and highly desirable works to own, to invest in, or both. Also, in the number of selected artists, Grellhorst limits himself strictly to those of the highest class. Of renowned photographic artists David Yarrow and Lars Beusker, at least ten worldwide limited works each are to be found as permanent portfolio specimens right here on the premises and can be admired in the exclusive ambience of the private showrooms in Kirchlengern, Germany and Kirchberg, Tirol. For Lars Beusker, Galerie Grellhorst owns the exclusive marketing rights for all of Austria.

In addition to that, steadily changing programmes of rare individual works are added. Currently that includes one of the rare “Likörelle” of German rocker Udo Lindenberg, as well as one of the worldwide sold-out statues of Marc Lagrange. It even includes a unique-coloured Mercedes SLS Limited Edition Roadster from a collector’s own garage.

As far as providing new ways for clients to find their way to his portfolio is concerned, Grellhorst also treads completely different paths from “normal” galleries. “We bring the art works to the client, right into their home. We know that it’s something completely different to be able to see such works hanging on your own wall in intimate atmosphere, rather than in neutral commercial surroundings,” says Axel Grellhorst. Upon request, regular vernissages are organised at the client’s home, where fine art can be hung on the walls “on trial”: an exclusive and welcome homey event. A good glass of wine and direct feedback from family and friends is also included, alongside the profound knowledge and counsel of a professional who can look back on a long life in the art business. It goes without saying, the artworks can also be digitally mounted in highly professional photos of the customer’s living spaces.

In the future …
… Axel Grellhorst will continue to place his bets on his own highly focused art gallery concept. No more than one or two new artists will extend and enrich his portfolio another notch. Possibly the theme of “sculpture” will be granted a certain importance. In any case, it is a rewarding visit to check out the website.

David Yarrow, Diamonds in the Sky, 175 x 132 cm

David Yarrow, Africa, 170 x 132 cm
David Yarrow …
… is one of the most successful photographers in the world. His penmanship alone is a striking feature of the worldwide art market, separating him from all others. His large-format monochromatic photographs are exhibited in leading museums of Europe and North America. Today Yarrow numbers among the most highly valued photographic artists of the world. Triggered by record-breaking results of his works at the large international auction houses, both art collectors and investors treasure him in equal measure. Galerie Grellhorst possesses a large private collection of his highly desired works, some of which are sold-out. These are for the most part highlights of his wildlife works, but also includes some works from his “Storytelling” series.

David Yarrow, The unusual suspect, 193 x 132 cm
Lars Beusker …
… captures rarities, unparalleled moments in black-and-white, portraits of wild animals more beautiful than one ever sees. In 2022 he was distinguished with the title Nature Photographer of the Year at the International Photography Awards in New York. In 2023 he was named Best Wildlife Photographer in the World for the second year in sequence. His works are incomparable, crowned by international prizes and strictly limited. Each and every photographic motif is available only ten times worldwide, without Artist Proofs or similar ways of extending the edition further. Each picture is numbered, personally signed and is handed to the purchaser with a certificate guaranteeing its genuine authenticity.

Axel Grellhorst (in photo, right) is a connoisseur who looks back on a long career in the art business. Profound, very personal counsel is the A and O of services offered by his gallery.
