When you think of the big yacht building nations of the world – countries that build yachts over 24 metres in length – Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey and England are often mentioned. The United Arab Emirates, on the other hand, comes to the mind of well-informed yacht aficionados: there, on the Persian Gulf, they know the Gulf Craft shipyard. Julian Merk, Managing Partner of Merk & Merk, says: “With a Majesty or a Nomad from Gulf Craft you buy a lot of yacht for a relatively favourable price. European components, Italian design and the location in the Emirates make this possible”. Merk must know – he sells the models on the Adriatic out of Tribunj/Croatia.
If you want to explore the Dalmatian coast, one of the most beautiful areas of the Mediterranean, with a sleek British yacht, Merk recommends the brand new and 29-meter-long Y95 from Princess Yachts. The extremely high-quality yachts from Plymouth are also sold by Merk, who moved to Croatia in 2006, as dealers for Croatians and Germans boating in the Adriatic. “The Y95,” says Merk, “is the new flagship of the Y Class range”. Those who keep their yacht in Croatia know it is in the best hands at Merk and Merk in Tribunj. “We’re not just talking about a 360-degree service, we’re offering it,” says Merk.
