Kitzbühel | Issue 41 | Summer 2017
21th–27th of August 2017: the Filmfestival Kitzbühel opens its gates for the fifth time to unveil in the heart of the Alps a remarkable stage for international films, events and stars from the filmmaking business.
A special focus at the festival pinpoints young moviemakers from Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol and Bavaria: The AlpenDating – forum of up and coming production talents from the Alpine regions is a joint initiative of the Filmfestival Kitzbühel and the four Alpine Film-Support Funds. The alternating programme goes on for two days and includes Speed-Dating, the presentation of the sponsors, open-air film presentation and a reception. Having networked on this new platform, talented young moviemakers can create new things together beyond the borders of their homelands.
The FFKB has become a red letter event on the calendar of movie fans and cinema lovers primarily because of the far-reaching variety of its programme, including competition films, drive-in movies, movies on the mountainside, etc.
As in recent years, the Chamois film award in the categories of best feature film, best documentary film and best short film will be awarded by the members of the high-calibre jury. A separate jury will award the best winter “sport-short”. The audience, as in years prior, also has the opportunity to award “its” favourite film the Public Prize. Further, the Friends of Filmfestival Kitzbühel Association will also award the best Austrian New Blood Film to their choice from the new generation, thereby qualifying him/her for the three-week long film script meeting the following year.-
