Project Description

Kitzbühel | Issue 51 | summer 2022

The prize-awarded house of X ARCHITEKTEN in Weidling has been expanded to a generous extent with leisure time and sports surfaces after ten years. The highlight of the new outdoor areas is a natural swimming pool with an ornamental pond panelled in exotic marble known as ‘rain forest green’ allowing it to provide an exquisite contrast to the white facade (‘white stone’ limestone).

The desire of the builders for greater volume of leisure-time and sports facilities placed the architects before the challenge of creating and expanding a completed project on a steep slope. Together with Kramer und Kramer Gartengestaltung and Breitwieser Natural Stones, a brand new outdoor world of exciting and multi-faceted exterior zones was generated.

What is so very special in this exterior zone is the natural pool whose patterned panelling of exotic rain-forest green marble harmonizes exceedingly well with the wood terrace and the surrounding surfaces. The water itself generates gentle waves over the patterns in the stone. The stone surfaces were fastened carefully in the natural pool and a separating wall between swimming zone and ornamental pond thereby created.

Clear-cut forms, slanted edges and an exquisite mixture of materials here transform architecture, terraces and garden into an extraordinary ensemble. For stone terrace and facade, ”white shell” was used to great effect. The pale limestone frames, threads and forms the background into a leisure landscape which is full of contrasts.
