Kitzbühel | Issue 44 | Winter 2018 Text: Klaus Dörre
Unique pieces and interiors of wood including the salty residues deposited on the walls of old wine casks by aging wine by Diogenes create a sophisticated, inimitable atmosphere in elegant surroundings. Ideal for exquisite experiences and special events with the best vintages from all over the world. Now also at Alpen-Wellness Resort Hochfirst***** in Obergurgl in Ötztal.
The new vinotheque dubbed “Santé” of the luxury hotel resort forms a stylish backdrop for wine tastings and exclusive private dining. Guests can savour rarities from the best wine regions in the world in the truly fascinating Diogenes ambiente, couched by noble materials and old wood from wine casks. A highlight for connaisseurs, wine lovers and those who treasure exquisite interior design.
The entrance area to the new vinotheque elevates visitors into a rarified atmosphere through works of art made from the salty residues on the walls of wine casks of maturing wine, immediately inspiring them to the noble spirit of winemaking. Each piece in the vinotheque is unique. At the center is a table (4 meters long, 130 cm wide) made from the wood of old wine barrels, from two 6500-liter Zweigelt casks hailing from 1966 at the Domaine Wachau Dürnstein Wine Cellars.
Two exchangeable table-leaf inserts of bronze or leather also belong to the table concept. Beneath the surface, electric installations are concealed. This ability to combine high aesthetics with high functionality is but one of the many outstanding attributes of Helmut Pramstaller and Diogenes.
