Philipp Kohlschreiber, the well-known tennis star, lives near Munich with his wife Lena and his dog Zuio. The interior design of his villa is in large part the creation of Aufschnaiter. How did this ‘doubles team’ come about?
For nearly 20 years, Kohlschreiber has been careening around the globe to take part in tennis tournaments. He got to know the finest hotels on these journeys. “I love the simple, straightforward and noble quality of Italian design”, he reports. That’s why it was Italian brands such as Poliform or Minotti that took priority in his interior design considerations. When an overall furnisher from St. Johann was recommended to him more than once, Kohlschreiber (who is often in Kitzbühel) strolled by the furnishings headquarters while at a cooking event with Didi Maier. That did it. A doubles team à l’interieur was made for life.
“Lena and I wanted a kitchen designed with an island. So that we both can work there simultaneously.” Interior architect Andreas Aufschnaiter and his team designed their kitchen island completely in white in order to provide a striking contrast to the Poliform wall cabinets in metal-lacquer look. Not only the new kitchen is 100% to the taste of the lord and lady of the manor, also the individually custom-designed furniture by Aufschnaiter’s furniture workshop throughout their living spaces. “Our expectations, our greatest hopes were utterly fulfilled. We are downright enthusiastic”, said the tennis star.
