“For me, beauty, poetry, and aesthetics are integral to a healthy environment”.
Ulrike Krages founded an architectural planning office in 2001. Today it has evolved into five companies, each in a different business segment. The Urban Comfort group develops holistic architectural and interior design projects, designs its own products with licensing partners, and is a passionate promoter of “healthy” living. Ulrike Krage’s activities are so wide-ranging that calling her a multi-talent seems inadequate. The native of Germany’s East Frisia region is also surprisingly down-toearth. Even now, her concept of living is still influenced by the tranquility and natural environment of her childhood, forming the basis for her all-embracing creativity. The designer’s work focuses on the holistic approach and, together with her team of architects, designers, psychologists and lighting designers, she develops unusual and unconventional ideas. Ulrike Krages believes that a room requires a “warm belly” and must engage with its surroundings. Urban Comfort’s kitchens demonstrate just how detailed its planning is. Transparent tableware cabinets can be moved around, functioning as room dividers. And since Ulrike Krages is always forward-thinking, an additional product has recently been added to the range. Pieces of sea glass, found when walking on the shoreline, were the inspiration for a new collection of wallcoverings.
