Project Description

Yachting | 2025

Puerto Portals, which is attached to the town, was the idea of the late German businessman Klaus Graf, who also founded the Hotel Son Caliu in the 1960s. Puerto Portals was inspired by Puerto Banús in Marbella, which opened almost two dec-ades earlier in 1970. Graf created several hundred moorings, a commercial area, gardens and walkways for his Mallorcan interpretation. The 650 berths in Puerto Portals range from eight-metre boats to 60-metre yachts. This creates an interesting mix of owners and their yachts, ranging from small centre consoles and medium-sized Sunseekers or Ferrettis to custom yachts with pools and helipads. The largest yachts in particular have brought famous faces to Puerto Portals.

The Spanish royal family has enjoyed the marina from the very beginning – after all, it is only a stone’s throw away from their beloved summer residence, the Marivent Palace. Incidentally, the best chance of meeting a celebrity is said to be either at Flanigans, founded in 1987 – allegedly the favourite restaurant of former King Juan Carlos – or at Wellies, the port’s most famous restaurant, which has been in Portals for a year. Numerous service providers and brokers have also set up shop in Portals, so owners don’t really have to leave the port at all. Except, of course, for their trips to the dreamy Mediterranean.
