Yachting | 2025
For 34 years, the North of Sardinia has been the perfect setting: every September, the sailing multi-millionaires come with their yachts and fight fierce duels over five days to come out on top at the end of the regatta season at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. This year, a total of 43 yachts took to the starting line in the yachting Mecca of Sardinia, although the owners and their (often professional) crews had to be quite patient. Harsh conditions with wind speeds of over 50 knots made it impossible to leave the natural harbour of Porto Cervo. Only the last day offered optimal conditions with still decent gusts of around 30 knots.

Joost Schuijff’s “Leopard 3” from the Netherlands secured the first Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship, while George and Christina Sakellaris’ “Proteus” won the Maxi 2 class on IRC-corrected time. Aldo Parisotto’s “Oscar 3” held its own in the Maxi 3 tableau, while Riccardo di Michele’s “H2O” navigated to first place in Maxi 4. In the end, it was “Svea”, reminiscent of a bygone era, that secured the Super Maxi victory in the final race of the series. In the Maxi Multihull class, the win by “Gaetana” completed the overall ranking.
