At top speed for lunch in the Bahamas

In the bay off Cannes, there is still a small swell that gently moves the anchored yachts up and down. The captain carefully manoeuvres through the field until he suddenly says “Hold on tight!” as soon as we have passed the last yacht. The warning is justified, because as the captain pushes the throttle towards the dashboard, we experience an acceleration that is second to none. The engines in the engine room are soon running at maximum speed and the GPS shows a breathtaking 50 knots for a 30-metre yacht.

To achieve these high speeds, AB Yachts installs no less than three MTU diesels, each with 2600 hp, in the AB100, which transmit their power not to shafts and propellers, but to waterjets from MJP – two normal and one booster. Combined with her lightweight construction and shallow draft of only 1.30 metres, this makes the AB100 the ideal yacht for shallow waters like the Bahamas (which could be reached within an hour from Miami).

The interior design for up to ten guests was penned by internationally renowned architect Marco Casamonti and reflects his vision and exquisite “tactile” style, with a focus on the interior design and furnishings. Casamonti is, among other things, professor of architecture and urban planning at the University of Genoa and co-founder of the studio Archea, which has already realized architecture, design, interior design and graphic design projects around the world with over 180 architects.
