Turkey’s Karmarine Shipyard recently completed a rather unconventional superyacht project. Working with top designer Timur Bozca, the shipyard, based south of Istanbul, transformed an old commercial semi-submersible from Japan into a luxury explorer superyacht and christened her “OK”. At 146 metres long and 32.01 metres wide, “OK” can accommodate up to 20 guests in luxurious cabins. The spacious owner’s suite offers 360-degree views. Also, on board are a sundeck with whirlpool, an outdoor cinema, a botanical garden, a glass pool and four large aquariums. A glass exterior elevator connects the decks, and a vertical wind turbine with Darrieus rotors at the stern provides additional power. The absolute highlight, however, is of course the huge diving deck, where there is more than enough space for numerous tenders and water toys. For example, the owner of “OK” parks his 46-metre gulet as well as a 24-metre flybridge format on the lowerable deck. According to Bozca Design, there is also enough room for about 70 more tenders and toys. Since it takes about three hours to flood the submerged deck, there are a total of three cranes on deck for quickly watering the tenders. When empty, the aft deck also offers a large tennis court.
